March 9, 2015

This week was good for me, a normal week, nothing crazy. We had a good p day Monday and Tues we were back to working hard. There are a lot of shopping centers here, one of our less active member that we are reactivating knows the boss of this big shopping center here, he told us to come over because he wanted to talk to us. So we are talking to this older man, he has a lot of money and he owns a lot of the shopping centers in Salto. We taught him, he was raised a mason, but kept saying that he wants to know the truth to feel the spirit. He said he wants to come to church. We also have some members that work in his shopping center that always have to work on Sundays so we are going to try to talk him into maybe getting there Sundays off. Wednesday we had some more lessons and house clapping, Thurs was ward night and we had a meeting with the sister missionaries and set goals and made plans. We are still working on making the members self sufficient, the member do not come to church regularly and we are always trying to make the less active feel more welcomed and strengthen them. We have also been inviting the members, active and inactive, to come with us to appointments to strengthen their testimonies. We had a zone meeting this week too and we played games to see how well we knew our companions, we would have won (we know everything about each other) but we did not play because it would not have been fair but we got the elders all excited to work. Saturday we spent the day inviting people to come to church. We had about 50 come on Sunday which is less than normal but we are working with the members to make Sunday a priority to go to church. Good things are happening here, couple of baptisms here in the 28th. Other than that it was just a nice and normal week. Dad, happy birthday this week! I love you so much and thank you for everything you have done for me, the example you have been my whole life, you are a wonderful dad, I could not have asked for a better one, my best buddy!  Have a wonderful week. Read the scriptures and please be safe!!
Love Elder Eddenfield

(Dallen has been sending recording instead of letters, I can not type as fast as he speaks so I do my best to type his words but its not quite the same, still trying to figure out a way to upload his recordings!!)

Hola mi familia! how are you all, hope everything is spectacular!  This was another amazing week, each day was great! We traveled again Tuesday, close to my old area helping the new missionaries in our zone; because of transfers we have a lot of new missionaries. It was so good to see elder Ramos, my mtc companion! He is doing really well! He is a really nice guy and I am happy he is in our zone!  We have some new sisters in our area now too and they are nice. We did not get back to our area until Thursday then we visited Mirta to check on her and get her ready for her upcoming baptism, and we got everything ready for that. We also had English class on Friday which was very good. We had fun at ward night!  I did not lose in ping pong! We have a less active guy coming back to church who came to ward night, he brought a friend who is interested in the church and we are teaching him too, his name is Marcos.  We should have a few baptisms this month and we are really excited about that. Mirta got baptized on Saturday and we were so happy to have a lot of support from the members there, made her feel very special!!  She has a strong testimony!  It was a perfect day for her!  We ate at the Brazilian place again, they would not less us pay, and we see a lot of potential in them.  We did not have a big turnout at church today but it was a great fast and testimony meeting, I taught class in Sunday school and it went well. Mirta received the Holy Ghost and it was amazing! We were tired today, it is very hard to fast because we walk so much and it is so hot. But it is important and we feel the blessings from it. We are trying to connect a couple of our new members, playing matchmaker! We are excited about it and hope it goes well!! They are both super excited about learning and reading every piece of material we have for them, they really would be a perfect couple. I will let you know how it goes. We have had a lot of great lessons with investigators and less actives this week, one a 18 year old that is reactivating and wants to go on a mission so we are trying to help him as much as we can. This area is a very difficult place to live for the people here, Satan is so strong, and there are so many bad influences here but it is all they know,  this is the culture that they grew up with,  it is sad. But I am happy to be here, there are so many opportunities for us to share the gospel and teach la better way of life. Our message is always well received.  I love you all so much!  Please keep reading your scriptures, saying prayers! Be safe and I love you all so much!

February 23, 2015

I love you guys so much, more and more every day. We had another great week, a little crazy but we love working here! We are seeing a lot of great things happen here. Our zone is doing really well! We have another baptism this week too!! We went to another area to help some Elders in our zone, there are not many members in their area and the members do not come regularly to church but we went to visit all the members to get to know them and to invite them to church. While there we found an older lady pushing a wheel barrel along the road, we offered to help and we pushed it to her house and shared with her a lesson of the restoration, it went well and she said she would come to church (however, she did not). And we also met a 17 year old and shared a lesson with him as well and gave him a book of Mormon, he seemed very eager and excited to learn. Back in our area,we had fun with our investigators this week as well, they came to ward night and we played charades and hot potato, they all really love it and have fun and it is fun for us as well to help them get to know and support each other. The youth here are really a great blessing, very nice and welcoming to the investigators, it is such a blessing! There are not many, but the are such good members! Our baptism March 6th is a 15 year old Jorge, he loves coming on visits with us and wants to be a missionary, and he is friends with all the youth, he is a really good kid. And Mirta will be baptized this coming Saturday and she is super excited. We try to protect our investigators because Satan is working really hard here. Especially when a baptism date is set, Satan puts little things in their way but we know that God is on our side and we will win! Everything was great at church on Sunday too!! We asked Estabon, our new member, to teach Sunday school and he accepted and we are working with him on setting goals and he is super excited. I love you all, keep praying, reading the scriptures, going to church. Little things are great things in Gods eyes. He does not ask a lot, it’s simple and it helps us to grow and become stronger, that’s what we teach everyday! I love you all so much and have a great week!!!

He was excited to find his favorite hair jell there! I am still working on getting last weeks recordings uploaded!!

February 9, 2015

Hello my family. How’s everyone doing? I love you so very much. This week was pretty crazy, I went to my first leadership meeting, it was great, a little intimidating with all the leaders and the President. He is so awesome and such a spiritual giant. He is amazing and truly an inspired man! I learned so much. We set goals for our area and will now implement them in our zone. Unfortunately there was an emergency transfer is our area, they took our sister missionaries away to Posadas so now we have the entire area all by ourselves!! President must have a lot of confidence in us to have such a big responsibility, our area is huge! A cool experience we had this week. We went to teach a lesson about family history to an investigator and before we even started our lesson she started telling us about loved ones that had passed away so we felt really inspired about the lesson we had prepared and she loved it. She told us a crazy story about a baby that was aborted in her family, a 4 month old fetus and they took the fetus and put it in a jar with alcohol and kept it for 3 years!! So Creepy!!  The sister missionaries had a baptism scheduled this weekend so we will be doing it for them, we are excited! We have one of our own too, Roberto, is in a wheelchair so both Elder Ollerton and I are going to baptize him together! His mother, 90 years old, is a recent convert and now her son will be baptized! We are so excited. We were walking down the street the other day and this punk kid that was on something was calling us names and being obnoxious and I was getting really annoyed, I turned around to say something but just then as I looked down the street I saw one of the sisters investigators Estabon and he looked upset so we went over to talk to him, he was having a bad day but we were able to help and make him feel better. It was cool that in our frustration we happen to see Estabon and were able to help him, God is looking out for us! We had never even been in that area before. Also, another guy on a motorcycle stopped to tell us he was inactive but wants us to start teaching him so we are excited about that too!  What we are really trying to do now is work with the less actives!  We have been having a lot of success with them. We have really felt inspired lately which lessons we should be teaching to our inactive members and investigators. Another cool thing is that we got permission from the President to teach a family in Brazil!! It will be Portuguese only! It will be a test of our Portuguese!! We are so excited to go this week!  I love you guys, you’re my inspiration, I tell people all the time how awesome you are!! Tell more people to write me!! Have a great week! I love you so much and please be safe!!

Pictures from the leadership meeting and we ate at McDonalds!!!
